trying to keep up

1. Painting
It has been a long time since we have done a paint night.  We haven't done one in AT LEAST 18 months.  Mike and I were feeling a little disconnected recently so it was nice to sit down and paint.  We turned up some tunes and had some adult beverages.  It was nice to return to something that we love.

2. Spider-Man
When he wears his costume all day - it makes me happy.  This costume has been around a LONG ASS TIME.  It will be sad when I we are in a different phase of life.

3. Pajama Day
Have I put this on the list yet?!  Jack is obsessed with pajama day on Friday.  Ever since the holiday celebration week he thinks that Friday is the OFFICIAL day.  He knows that no one else will be wearing their pajamas BUT he still thinks that he should.  It is HIS day.

4.  Black belt study
I am grateful that I am able to take this class for Six Sigma Black Belt with the PE team.  I have learned a lot and I am making a lot of connections

5. Dinner last night
Mike made zucchini noodles and and mahi mahi.  Oh my goodness it was so yummy.  AND he did all the dishes.

WebEx

1. Snow ball fight in the morning
I was sitting inside my mom's nice, warm car this morning while the twins proceeded to have a snowball fight while waiting for the bus.  Grateful that they were getting along AND having fun.

2. My mom's car
My car is officially in the shop and they can't even LOOK at it until tomorrow.  My fabulous mom is letting me borrow her car.  So grateful I don't have to pay for a rental car or coordinate rides all week.

3. Mike figuring out the details
Rouzer took control of getting my car all situated.  It has been so nice to not have to worry about my car at ALL.

4. Owen and Mike have completed the Rubik cube
Holy I am impressed with Mike and Owen.  They have both figured out the strategy to complete the small cube in 2 minutes.  Mike even clocked 28 seconds once.  Now they are moving onto the next size.  It has been so fun to watch.  Last night we called some of our relatives to show off.

5. Doing a play with Cameron and Jack
Last night the two boys were playing and putting on shows for us.  For the last performance I decided to join them.  It was nice to be home and PLAY with the kids.  We all ate dinner together, we were not in a rush and we had no activities.  It was heavenly.

Half way through the month

I have stayed on top of a lot of goals recently but this blog is not one of them.  Hoping to do a quick 5 before my work day starts.

1. My new journal
I went down a rabbit hole of podcasts last week that lead me to my new journal.  It keeps me super intentional.  I am journaling twice a day and keeping myself accountable more than ever.  I am on day 4.  lol.  BUT I still love.

2. Date night
On Friday we hit up Bier for a quick drink and then made our way to Bruggee.  Yum.  It was great to get out of the house and be able to TALK.  My black belt studying the past week has made this evening seem like a LONG time ago.  Grateful we took the evening out to be with each other.

2. The snow
Jack was obsessed with the snow.  He played outside for almost two hours with the neighbors.  Also grateful my new Christmas snow stuff fit.  Excited to venture out in Banff.

3. Cameron's acting
Last night was Cameron's first acting class of the year.  He JUMPED out of bed in the morning because he was so excited.  Then while we were sitting there during the parent meeting I could feel his energy.  ALSO - the class had more boys than girls.  WHAT?!?!  I know that this made him so happy.

4.  5 miles
Last night I busted out another 5 miles.  It was a bit harder than I would like but I still DID IT.  I am happy that I have the ability and confidence to jump on the treadmill and beast out my goal.

5.  Watching the twins come home from Greg's
On Sunday night after the twins were away for the weekend all of us lit up when they entered the room.  On top of that the boys had smiles from ear to ear when interacting with Jack.  Cameron even brought some toys home.  Jack kept saying, "ohhh...good job Cameron."  The smiles, the joy.  Oh gosh it melts my heart.  I wish that I could bottle that feeling up and keep it on my desk.

Beach Whiffs

1. Date Day
We FINALLY did a date day with the boys.  We hit up Dave and Busters, split up for lunch and then met back at the movies.  I spent some time alone with Cameron which was great and the entire day overall was much needed.  At the last minute I took Friday off so Jack was in daycare and Mike was still on Christmas break.  I rarely use my PTO this way and it was well spent.

Slumber Party
 2. Meals with the boys
On Sunday and Monday each of the twins was in charge of dinner.  It was fun for me to go slow, teach them and help them learn their way around the kitchen.  I am grateful for the QUALITY time together.  Cameron has never shown any interest in the kitchen so he had a lot to learn.  I am excited for our meals in the future.

3. Few hours extra
Yesterday I worked a pretty long day with meetings early in the morning and late at night.  I decided to spend 2 extra hours at home this morning.  It is nice to still be in pajamas and get caught up on things like the blog.  I went to sleep at 8pm last night so I actually feel pretty rested.

4. Rubik Cube
Owen and Mike are teaching themselves to solve Rubik Cubes.  I love that they are tackling something new and encourage each other.

5. POINTS
Oh....this goal is a big one and I am so excited to tackle it.  Yesterday when I accomplished another point I ran into the bedroom to mark it off my grid.

6. Beach Candle
One of my Christmas gifts this year was a candle called bikini weather.  I put it next to our home computer so every now and then I can get a quick whiff.  Oh wow it brings you immediately to the beach.  It is pretty heavenly.

Thursday Morning

1. Success Trip Point
Today I have earned my first point of the year.  I still have 149 to go but I am PUMPED to have the ball rolling.  It's going to be a challenge for sure but I am excited to see what type of magic I am able to create.

2. Bedtime success
It was a little bumpy last night before bedtime but overall it went pretty smoothly.  Jack was being super silly during the books so I was a little scared what was going to happen next.  I am happy to report that he stayed in bed and I never heard a pep.

3.  Twins come home today
The boys have been in Chicago the past few days so I am excited to give them a hug and have our level of crazy go up dramatically.

4. Mike is spending time in the woods
The past few days Mike has finally been able to hunt again.  He hasn't killed anything yet - though I think TODAY is the day.  I am still grateful that he is able to get into the woods and take hours to himself and get recharged.

5. House is still clean
Nothing has really happened since NYE and our house is still pretty clean!  It makes such a difference to have a clean house so hopefully I can stay on top of it.

hodge podge

1. BANFF
We purchased our tickets to Banff over Spring Break.  I am excited to actually have this on the books and not just in our heads.  I am looking forward to another year of adventures.

2.  NYE
We played Escape the Crate and had neighbors over on NYE.  Everyone has little babies (except us) who needed to get sleep so I was happily in bed before midnight.  The bigger kids (3 year olds) destroyed the house but had an absolute blast.  Jack was in heaven.  I think that all of the adults had fun and we will actually do it again.  You can not imagine how loud it was in our house but it was still wonderful.

3. Time
Jack got a hold of my phone and was doing snapchat.  I have NO IDEA how to save pictures in snap chat so we were doing the faces and then trying to save by just snapping a screen shot.  This is a great example of the TIME that I had yesterday.  I laid around and watched TV, did puzzles and just hung out with Jack.  I didn't get through my TO-DO list but it was still extremely refreshing.

4.  sunless tanner
My current dark hair is SUPER dark.  Today I did a little self tanning lotion on my face and I received about 20 compliments.  I got my hair colored 2 weeks ago but today is when everyone told me that it looked good.  Sunless tanner for the win.

5. Dad's help
Today at the last minute I asked my dad to come over and sit at my house while a worker searched for a gas leak. He was there for almost 5 hours!!  He came at the drop of a hat and stayed there all day.  I am so freaking lucky.

2019 - Day ONE

This year I am ON TOP of the goals.  I am also pretty excited to see how the next year and the next few years fall into place.

Overall we had a great year last year.  Even though my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, we still lived the hell out of 2018.  We purchased a lake house, a boat and traveled like crazy.  We went to Bermuda, Grand Cayman, Disney, OBX, lake Geneva, Charlotte and Denver.  I also did a quick trip to Utah and Mike went to Ohio to hunt.  Last night we sat and talked about how we don't go to tons of parties and stay up late but we are always ALWAYS busy.  This coming year we already have Banff on the docket and hopefully a trip to Denver. Mike will also go to Maine with some friends to hunt.

This past week I did a goal workshop and I am now obsessed.  It started by writing out 50 things that I want to happen in the next 10 year.  Not 50 things that I think I will earn or think will happen.  After that you continue to narrow, tweak and eventually start the work.  I narrowed down my goals for the year to four main goals.  I will add those at the top of the list.  I will also type out the rest of my goals that hit the 1 year mark to see how far I can stretch this year.

Cheers to another time to start fresh.
