Don't blink

I only have a few short minutes to post before I need to wake up the twins and head out the door.  Usually I would not cut it so short but I promised Rouzer to make an honest effort to post 3 times this week.  So I decided one would be this morning!  

On Friday evening Mike left for his first bear hunt in Maine while I stayed here to hold the fort down.  On Saturday my parents left for Italy.  That left me staying at their house so we had a functioning kitchen.  

1. The weekend in the sun

It has been absolutely beautiful out this weekend.  We have been outside for almost all of our waking hours. 

2. Jack's asleep
The sleeping arrangements for this child SUCK.  He is going to be rough.  He climbs out of everything now and he has no interest in sleeping.  He is able to stay up for hours and though he is exhausted beyond the max he is able to fight it.  Ugh.

 3. Mom play date
On Sunday night Catherine and the boys came over to take advantage of our bounce house.  When they left Kathleen and the kids came over to play.  It was an eventful night and the kids were exhausted (and so was I) when it was all over.

4. Owen's first soccer game
Owen's team lost 9 to 2 but he still had a great time on Sunday afternoon.  It was fun to watch him and did I mention....it was BEAUTIFUL out.

He's eating his dinosaur eggs and will not let go of his dinosaur bones.  Its a full fledged obsession.

 5. Carmel's Park
This gem has been around for a year but this was the first time that we made the trip over.  The place was PACKED but we all enjoyed the new playground.  We even splurged for an icee before heading home.  Yes-- I was THAT mom this weekend and it was fabulous.

 6. Office Helpers
Saturday morning the boys helped me clear out 2 more boxes in my office.  I officially have an office and now I just need to get it cleaned out!

 7. The trip to Toys R Us
On Saturday morning Cameron asked if we could go to Toys R Us to pick out birthday ideas for the grandparents.  Yes - this is a real thing that we do.  They were extremely well behaved and picked out TERRIBLE gifts.

 8. Friday Surprise Lunch
On Friday morning my meeting was out early so I surprised the boys at school for lunch.  I had a soft pretzel with cheese (yes--this was a real option).  We all had kiwi with the skin still on!?!?!?!  It was interesting to say the least.  Grateful I had a kitchen this morning to send their lunches.

9. Mike is a BEAST
The remodel has officially started (though Luke doesn't start until tomorrow since it keeps getting pushed back).  Mike has worked TONS of hours on getting this kitchen and bathroom demolished.  Looking forward to our new kitchen, bathroom AND floors.

10. First expensive ass meal out
On Thursday night since we didn't have a kitchen we had our first expensive meal out.  Wowzers how people eat out all the time is beyond me.  That being said, the boys were able to play video games on that thing Owen is holding and Mike and I sat and caught up on the day.  No dishes and endless fries ----maybe it was worth the $$$$$$$$.

Labor Day Construction

1. We picked out our entire bathroom...TODAY.

Our half bath has been out of service for way too long and it was quickly added to the kitchen project.  We had not picked out anything for the room (thank goodness it is small) so today was THE day.  Everything is purchased except the mirror and fixtures.

2. Jack has been sleeping in until 7pm.

Wowzers has this been wonderful.  Sadly tomorrow he will have to wake up early with the rest of us to start the day.  Grateful he has gotten an few extra hours of sleep lately.

3.  The boys are coming back today

The twins have been gone with Greg for what seems like weeks on end.  I am excited to see them in a few hours and sneak in some extra hugs.

4. 

This morning Jack wanted to use the car keys to press the door button to shut his door.  Since the keys were already in use I told him to say, "Abra Ca Da Bra Shut the door."  He said got a huge smile on his face and on the count of three he said, "Abra Ca Da Bra Dinosaur."  I know this story is silly to you, but it made me smile.

5. I have an office

Maybe.  I have been waiting to have an office or my own space at work and I believe that this week is going to be the week.  Lana is not wanting to leave so we shall see how it goes.  Fingers crossed that tomorrow is the day.

6. Mike is the BOMB

My husband is very fabulous.  And I am so grateful for his awesomeness.  He deserves to be #1-5.  

it's been awhile

Absolutely nothing crazy has been going on and I have no good excuses for not keeping up with the blog.  I can sadly say that my new hobby of selling toothpaste on social media leaves little energy for any other types of electronics.  At the same time I am sort of in a rut.  I never work out, I spend lots of hours not loving my job and then toothpaste seems to be always on my mind.  It sounds a bit miserable...and though I am not actually miserable I also don't really feel myself.  Yesterday my mind was going wild and uneasy at yoga -- my ADHD is in full blown crazy mode and I can't seem to get my shit together.  What is also strange is that I don't have any crazy anxiety or worry about anything....our life seems to be flowing pretty well.  Just in a rut.  So basically -- yesterday -- I decided I needed to be a bit more intentional about how I am spending my time.  A bit more intentional with my hobbies, with my thoughts, with the food I put into my mouth and the time I spend with my family.  There is no way I can catch you up on all of the pictures and life we lived in the past few weeks so instead I will pick up TODAY and do a quick five.  And of course....lots of pictures.

1. Blogger USUALLY works

Tonight I had to post one picture at a time.  Clearly the universe knows I have a lot to share.  Grateful that is not the normal routine and I can usually bust these posts out pretty quickly.

2. Date Day

Since Mike is headed to Maine in a few days we decide to pawn of Jack on my parents and spend  few hours alone.  It was wonderful.  We went hiking at Eagle Creek, had lunch at Flatwater in Broad Ripple and then ice cream at Baskin Robbins.  Once we made it back home I took a nap and actually fell easily to sleep!  It was nice to have full conversations and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Cheers.

3. The kitchen is getting a face lift

Yesterday we officially emptied all of the cabinets in preparation for demo.  It went much smoother than I anticipated so I hope that is a good sign for the entire project.  Though the project has already been pushed back a week and it hasn't even started yet........

4. Quick trip to Cleveland

Last weekend we made a quick trip to Cleveland to see Brian, Lauren and Grace.  We ended up seeing the entire family which was pretty wonderful.  The trip itself was a normal, hotel (ehhh) weekend trip with three children BUT still grateful that we got to catch up on life with the family.

5. Back to school night
This year I attended back to school night and was in awe of how my children are pushed and challenged every day.  That being said -- their individual letters cracked me up.  AND after the event Tasha and I went to Jacamos and had pizza and beer.  That was the best part of the night.

Yes -- we talked to him about his handwriting.  Wowzers

Jack has started to wear his pajamas as normal clothes because he is OBSESSED with dinosaurs.

More of the remodel.  We decided to officially ditch the built ins.  Fingers crossed!

Insomnia

Look at those sweet, huge lips!!  He makes my heart melt...  I little bit of insomnia finally got me out of bed and being a bit more productive.  I am WAY behind on the blog.  I miss writing my posts and being able to troll my own memories.  It's 350am and I am patiently waiting on my coffee as I update a quick 5.

1. The boys had a better week than last

Oh goodness we all had a huge adjustment last week going back to school.  It legit felt like our world was going insane.  Cameron's teacher even called home to tell me to get his shit together!!!  (In different words -- but still!)  This week we seem to be doing so much better.

2. Sunday Study-day
On Sunday I worked on a paper ALL.DAY.LONG.  but I was able to finish it, turn it in AND I passed another class.  I only have 5 classes left until my masters is complete!!

3. honeycomb
Last month when we were in Columbus we had honeycomb and cheese.  It was to die for.  This weekend I decided to purchase some fresh honeycomb from the farmer's market and it did not disappoint.

4. The dishwasher
Our dishwasher is officially out of commission.  We have a brand-new one in the garage but we decided to hold out for the month and have it installed with the rest of the kitchen.  This month has been eye opening on how much I love my dishwasher.  I miss you old friend.

5. the bus stop
The bus stop has easily become my favorite time of the day.  We head out early so the boys can play soccer, do time trials and be silly together.  Grateful for these small little moments with the kids.

6. Rouzer
He has been working nights this week on a project.  His absence in bed causes part of my insomnia but goodness am I grateful for this man.  I have missed spending my evenings doing "life" with him.  He always works so hard.  Love love love.

August 6th

I can't believe that it has only been a little over a week since my last post.  It feels like it has been a month.

1. The boys started second grade
First -- I love Cameron's hair cut in this picture.  It rarely looks this good so when I actually get him with good hair I LOVE LOVE it.

The boys were excited to head back to school.  At back to school night last week year were more relaxed than last year and so was I -- I actually had parent friends to talk to!!

Owen loves going to school.  He talked non-stop when I saw him that evening telling me all of the details of his day.

**Yes -- we bring a soccer ball to the bus stop.**

The bus came ON TIME.  WHAT???!!!  And we had the same driver from last year.  I was told our time was 6:54 but Sra Romero called at 930pm the night before and told us he would be there at 7:04.  He was spot-on.  Cheers!

2. Two main characters
I looked over in my car this week and caught these two characters staring back at me.  Ohhhh kitty and moo how we obsess over you in this house.

3. Orientation doesn't last forever
More than once this week I could feel tears filling my eyes when I pulled up to work.  It has been that type of an adjustment.  I realized that getting dressed in the morning is my favorite part of the day because it is the only real decision I get to make.  The picture I added is from Thursday -- I worked on the workque ALL DAY.  But I chose to do this because shadowing is quickly killing my soul.

On Friday I actually did interviews for new CT surgeon NPs and cleaned out some old boxes in the office.  I still think that eventually this will be the best thing for me but right now....holy moly this BLOWS.  AND I am getting an amazing catered lunch every day and getting really fat.  It's miserable, and I am not being funny about it.

4. Mike's trip
Rouzer is currently in San Deigo living the LIFE. It has actually been fun to hold the fort down while he is gone.  He does all (really....all) of the cooking and lots of the cleaning so now that I have to actually step up my game I feel a little refreshed. It has been fun to spend time with these littles by myself.  That being said -- I am super grateful he is coming home tonight!

5. Jumping in puddles

Jack and I stopped outside of HomeDepot yesterday to jump in puddles.  He was in heaven.  This is his absolute favorite activity.

 6. Sweet Ana
Last night Jack and I brought Panera over to Melissa and visited for a bit. Goodness she is beautiful and so tiny.  Melissa looks amazing per usual.  It was great to sit and catch up AND SBJ did a great job playing and keeping himself entertained.  To top it off the weather was perfect.  Great night.

7. 6 more classes

Besides the misery of my new job, I have been trying to wake up and finish school as quickly as possible without actually gauging my eyes out.  I only have 6 classes left which means I will easily meet my goal of getting done with my masters in 1 year.  BUT I hate it.  I hate the stuff I am studying.  I loath writing paper after paper after paper.  I want to read books, work out, paint with my husband, sleep in........and all I think about is how much I hate school.  I can't get it off my mind.  So I figure the faster I get it done -- the faster this will be a distant memory of my life.  

So I have 6 more classes.  My goal is to be done in 2016.  I am not sure if that is possible with our kitchen renovation, fall schedule AND the holidays....but that is my goal.  Short term, my goal is to write my next paper in 2 weeks.  If I get up every morning at 4am and work on it before I head into work then I should be able to accomplish this.  If I do 2 weeks on, 1 week off, 2 weeks on......I will be done with these classes quickly.
