The weekend

It is 6:11 am on Sunday morning.  I am up to go to work.  I get up extremely early when I work days so that if the boys happen to wake up at 6 or something terrible then I am already to go and don't have to run around with my head cut off while they are screaming or having a bad morning as well.  I am hoping to get a few things posted before I finish drying my hair and then go into work for 12 hours.

It has been a crazy time here in our house hold. A lot of random things going on.....here are a few updates.

613: the boys are now wanting up.

Cameron is now better.  Antibiotic done.  He took every dose like a champ.  On Thursday Owen woke up with a rash on his face.  It sort of looked like acne all over his chin.  I had absolutely NO IDEA what was causing this and instead of looking into it a tad more I decided to watch and see if it would go away.  On Friday, the ladies at the daycare in the gym told me that he had hand-mouth-and foot disease and he was contagious.  This was pretty embarrassing for me.  So no more gym until this whole thing clears up.  Sad.  **There is a picture of some of the rash that developed all over his lower body on Friday evening.  He has been in a great mood so that is SOOO helpful!

On Friday on the way to the gym we were outside for a bit and I noticed a huge "thing" in my yard.  I had no idea what it was so took a few cautious steps closer.  I think that it was a HUGE dead possum.  WTF.  I had Cameron in my arms and when I saw what looked like a tail (yes...I was still very far away) I backed up and just let it be.  I was hoping that it would magically disappear.  It hasn't.  This thing is HUGE HUGE.  It must be eating all of the apples that we leave out in our yard after the gym.  Regardless...it is now dead...in the middle of my yard.  Gross.

This leaves us to Saturday.  I went to work yesterday and my mom watched the boys.  Her and my Aunt Pam took them to Chic Fil A for lunch.  There is an indoor play area and the boys LOVE it there.  It is a special treat.  Anyways, my dad was on his way home from Florida so the two women were in charge.  When they left the restaurant and packed the boys into the car....it wouldn't start.  Yes.  My mom, aunt, and twin two year old boys were stuck in my dead car on Saturday afternoon (dangerously close to nap time).  So after waiting awhile to see if they could get something to work....I called Tanya.  She saved us.  She came with two car seats and an empty car and picked up the stranded group.  My dad ended up getting home from Florida, jumping my car, and it is now in my garage.

Goodness...it has been a random week.

Friends

It has been "one of those days" for the past few days at our house.  Today has made me feel that we need to take a winter vacation.  Now Cameron is sick.  He wasn't feeling well so I made a doctor's appointment and then made a call to Kara.  She thought that we should be seen immediately.  I made a few more calls and the doctor saw us during lunch.  **Another perk to being cousins with the doctor :)****

It was a stressful appointment filled with a full blown 10 minute breathing treatment. I held him down and the technician tried to hold the treatment up and he kicked and screamed for the entire time. He was asleep when he hit the car seat on the way home.  The doctor prescribed breathing treatments 3-4 times a day for 10 days.  I wanted to tell him that would never happen considering one treatment just took it all out of us...but instead I just kept my mouth shut.  He also has an ear infection so will be taking an antibiotic and will be taking prednisone for this breathing.

On to a more pleasant note.  My computer keeps deleting what I write.  Maybe it is trying to give me a hint to keep some things to myself.  ha...

Ok....so here are some pictures of what we have been doing the past 24 hours.  Hanging out with Ethan and Jonny.

I think that this was the start to Cameron not feeling well.  I don't think that he liked being so crowded in the tub.  Right after these pictures I got him out and he ate fruit snacks and played with dinosaurs instead!

I love this one of them eating.  I told the boys to smile and this is what I got.  LOVE it.

This morning the boys came to our house.  Owen moved his chair so they could sit right next to each other to watch the movie.

Grateful that we have Tanya and the boys in our lives.

Carpe Diem...if you have time

So I have never done this before on my blog....

Here is an article that was posted on Facebook this week.  I read it one morning and I have thought about it all week.  Anyways...enjoy.

lockdown

It is another peaceful morning at our house...the boys are not up yet!!  It is thundering pretty bad right now so I am just hoping that they are able to sleep through the whole storm and into the morning!!  This has been a frequent wake up time (630am) but maybe not this morning....let's hope.

1. Getting out of the house
...and out of pajamas.  Last Thursday Owen was diagnosed with Croup.  It was actually a pretty scary experience because he suddenly woke up unable to breath and I (yes, a nurse) had absolutely no idea what was going on.  He quickly calmed down and the emergency passed but the next morning we were in Kara's office.  Since croup is contagious we have been home.  Sad.  At that time I also had Kara check out Cameron's lymph nodes.  They have been swollen for an extremely long time.  She sent us to get a CBC.  It was clear.  The best part of the whole thing....he never even flinched when they were taking his blood.  Now, when his brother barely touches him Cameron will scream bloody murder.  When a huge needle goes into his tiny arm...nothing.  Today we are getting out of this lockdown.  Period.

2. Pizza
On Friday evening I was close to losing my mind.  Mat, who was in Palm Springs, had pizza delivered to the house.  The fun only lasted 15 minutes but it was a wonderful treat.  Thank you!!

3. Clean stove
The best part about this...the boys actually let me clean something while they entertained themselves (for the most part).  The boys need to be able to see me to make their souls happy.  When I walk into another room, 98% of the time...they follow.  Yesterday morning started out just the same but something got into me and I started cleaning...for over an hour!  I was frequently interrupted but it was amazing.  I love my clean stove....now on to the microwave.  Ha.
.
4. Words
These boys are talking nonstop.  There are times when I actually have to ask them to stop talking.  It is amazing how much they know and what they repeat.  (Everything.  They repeat EVERYTHING.)
.
5. CoOp
This morning I am going to tour a CoOp for the boys.  It is a program where parents are part of the learning process.  The boys will hopefully go twice a week for two hours each visit.  As a parent I will participate a few times a month.  Having two kids in the class it might be double.  They will LOVE this.  There is finger painting, sensory tables, other kids....lots of fun things to do.  The boys are banging the doors down to play at the gym so I started looking for something else to get them involved.  Hopefully the tour goes well and we can get started!

Side note: I am showered, blog done, and coffee almost finished....BOYS STILL ASLEEP.  I guess now I will start with more cleaning.

20 minutes

1.  The blog works this morning
The boys will be waking up any minute so I wanted to see if I could jump on here and get started before the morning craziness began.  I have so many random pictures that I decided to start with two from the playroom yesterday.  I was stretching and doing "downward dog" and both boys crawled under me and did the pose next to me.  The original event was pretty cute.  I tried to recreate it but eventually I became a bridge for their cars!  I must say...this is a pretty good example of what goes on around here.  The boys want to do EVERYTHING that I do.  It makes it hard sometimes to get much done.  That is why I am doing this blog early!!

2. Healthy Meal Options
I think that this will be a lifelong struggle but something that as a mom I feel is super important.  Not only is healthy usually more expensive..but usually goes to waste.  These boys love hot dogs, chicken fingers, pasta....ext.  I guess I am pretty lucky that they also LOVE fruit.  Anyways, I am adding variety to our meals and also healthy "extras."  Last week I made grilled cheese with avocado and tomatoes.  (Owen loved it!)And yesterday the boys ate my lunch time salad.  They are also loving granola right now.  And on the advice of Dr. Oz...I switched to organic milk.  He said that if you only do one healthy switch for your family this year....this should be it.  Done.

**Ok....as I scrolled down I noticed that this picture is of PIZZA ROLLS.  hahahahahaha.  But carrots are in there too!!! hahahahaha

3. Children's Museum
Very grateful that my parents bought me a membership to the Children's Museum.  Yesterday morning I was there when it opened and we played for 90 minutes and then went home for lunch and naps.  This was the first time I took the boys alone (success) and it was great not feeling like I had to be there all day to get my money's worth.  The boys LOVE this place.

**This is Cameron in timeout.  He was throwing sand and after a warning did it immediately again.  He did great in time out and we had no other problems for the day.

4. Independent
The boys are peeling oranges by themselves.  It is actually a process that takes time and concentration.  Right now it is something that they love.  My fruit bowl is actually flowing over filled with apples and clementines.  I try to limit how much they get each day.  Usually the oranges are done first thing in the morning!

5. Library
The library is pretty awesome.  It has made this list before.  In this past 6 months I have been letting the boys get out of their stroller and walk around to explore, look at books, ext.  Well I guess I didn't let them go far enough.  Right behind this huge wall that we sit at to read was a pretty big play area.  They had puzzles, blocks, legos, and more books!  Last week on a quick trip to the library we ended up staying to play.  It will be happening again soon.  Goodness.

Less than 20 minutes...blog finished...boys still in bed!!
.
AHHH....forgot to mention.....OWEN PEED IN THE POTTY!!  It was once last week and has not happened since BUT it was so much fun!

Damn Blog

My blog isn't letting me post new pictures.  I even completely shut my computer down.  I am taking this as a sign to go to bed instead.  Let me just say...it was a great day here.  Love these boys so much.  I can't believe how big and independent that they are becoming.  We were on a run today (yes...it is THAT warm to be outside running) and a mom was teaching her daughter how to drive a minivan.  I looked down at my kids and just smiled.

Day one...off to the right start.

1. New Years Weekend
We have had a busy 2011 and a great weekend to end the year.  I worked nights this weekend so we were able to lounge around and enjoy our day and spend good old fashion time at home.  Here is a picture of me and the boys hanging out in the bedroom (taken by my Iphone).  Maybe one of our resolutions should be...no more pacifiers!

2. The year of the home
In 2011 I tried to focus on getting projects done around the home.  I have lived here for four years and it still needed a TON of work.  Lots of work happened.  Some of these projects include (and this is just some) updating the hall bathroom, putting in new carpet in the front room, laminate hard word into the dining and hallway, painting the guest room, dining room and hallway AND changing out all the door knobs and hinges to a brushed nickle instead of the old gold.  Outside we cleared out the major ivy/weed overgrowth around the house and took down some overgrown bushes in the back (that was my 2011 new years resolution!)  Grateful for the updates and all of the people who took the energy to help!

3. Putting words together
The boys have continued to grow in their communication skills.  They are starting to put two and three words together and trying to form thoughts/sentences.  I sometimes just stop in awe and amazement when I watch them interact with others and grow.  Yes...I am that proud proud mom who gawks at her own kids.

4. Brothers
Having multiples is hard.  Who am I kidding...having kids in general is hard.  But I will admit that I am pretty lucky that I can see the boys interact with each other as brothers and best friends at such a young age.  It is so sweet when they call for each other and when they help each other out.  They are also smart enough to
put their brother into the hot seat if necessary.  For example, if I am about to change Owen's diaper he wants me to change Cameron's first.  Or if I ask, "who wants to get out of the bath first," then Cameron will point to Owen.  My hope is that they always stay friends, always remain close, and always have each others back.

5. LOAN PAID OFF
I am not going to lie...I wanted to call everyone on my call list and tell them that I had one of my loans paid off.  I worked a crap load of extra hours over the holidays and I am excited to say that the hard work paid off.  It paid Sallie Mae off.  I still have my car loan (this years resolution) and then one last giant student loan BUT this small step is a huge victory in this house.
